Critique Your Kid's Evolutionary Views by Showing Evolution Through Math and ScienceIn many science classrooms the Campbell Biology chapter is likely to be ignored, or else looked over, as a form of resistance to evolution. However, the concept of Evolution has been accepted in most countries for many decades now, so why do some kids still resist it? These kids have a problem with change, they fear change and want things to stay the same.The reason behind this is simple: Kids are essentially made up of two opposing forces: what's familiar and what's new. They want things to stay the same, because that's how things have always been done in their life. And it's this fear of change that they carry into adulthood. Their whole point of view is based on memories, childhood experiences and a view of life as being old fashioned.But, there is no reason why Evolution should be such a big deal in schools, especially when the majority of the population accepts it as fact. Most people can accept Evolution, even if they don't believe in it as being real, or as something that came about through sheer chance.So, with that in mind, it's hands down best to draw out an argument, to begin with. You're explaining that Evolution is a fact, and that you are therefore the child's parent, and that you and your children understand it. This way they will understand where you're coming from, and you can go into the next step of attacking them, stating that their views are childish and illogical.Not only do big kids tend to be very self-centered, they also get angry easily. It's fine to express that anger, but let them know that you do not think they are wrong. You want them to see that their beliefs are silly, and you are very patient. Once they come to that realization, you can move on to what's next.Now, look at physical changes in living things, and ask them how they think those happened. You can ask them in terms of mathematical equations and then use them in a test, which is how the process started. Once they understand that change is happening in the world around them, and the way the world is changing around them, you can take your ideas further. Ask them to list everything that they dislike about their current world.Think about it, when biological changes were happening, you would have a lot of bacteria and germs in your home, wouldn't you? You would probably have some pets that were not happy, would you? And you'd probably have an air filter in your home that was not working properly, wouldn't you?Now, ask yourself this: When there are changes in the world around you, does it feel like everything is moving? Do you think it would feel the same if you could talk to an animal and talk to it like you did when you were a child? If you really think about it, the answers are pretty clear - Life evolves, so you should be able to accept the facts and move on.
